A PLACE OF WORSHIP
St. John’s is first and foremost a place of worship and prayer. People from Chester, as well as visitors from the UK and overseas find it a place of peace. The Parish aims to continue keeping this very special Church open to the public, so that people of every faith can experience the peace that St. John’s offers.
A TOURIST ATTRACTION
We recognise that St. John’s is a tourist attraction. Again, we wish it to remain open, aside from normal Services, to allow as many people as possible to appreciate its rich history and individual architecture.
MAKING ST. JOHN’S BETTER KNOWN
Despite previous appeals, St. John’s has not yet received the publicity it merits. St. John's deserves to be better known by larger populations. For this reason 'The St. John’s Project' has been launched.
RESTORATION AND IMPROVEMENT
It is a primary aim of the Parochial Church Council to commence necessary restoration work to preserve the fabric of the building. A secondary aim is to look at a comprehensive scheme of improvement that will enable St. John’s to be used for a variety of secular purposes as well as the sacred.
